Apprentices & Assistants
Apprentices & Assistants
Our apprentices go through a 3500 hour licensing program that includes competencies, work ethic and growth reviews, weekly training and daily work day training. All apprentices will work for 2-2.5 years to get their hours and then take The Virginia Cosmetology State Boards Exam. In order to move up after passes the exam they then must do a MHSG test out to move up to the New Talent Artist Level. We take great pride in our training program and find that our devoted apprentices have been very successful.
If you are interested in apprenticing please call us and we will give you more information.

She is a Seattle girl, born and raised. She moved to Virginia roughly 2 years ago. She never really thought of being in the hair industry directly, but she desires to be a makeup artist. She has been getting into makeup ever since she could grab a step stool at her granny’s house, take it to the bathroom and get into her makeup cabinet. After having a talk with Michael, she convinced her to become a hair stylist as well! Even though, she has no prior education to be a hair stylist, she excited to be apart of Michael’s apprenticeship program to become one!

Apprentice/ Front Desk Coordinator
I was born in Henderson, Nevada and grew up for most of my life in St. George, Utah. I moved to Virginia my sophomore year of high school and lived with my aunt and uncle, whom are all around amazing people. I’ve learned to try many things in life until I find the one thing that brings me pure joy. With working with the MHSG staff, they have helped me learn, grow and find something that I am truly passionate about. All my life I have wanted to help people and bring joy into their lives. By joining the Hair Industry, I can make someone feel good about their hair and it can help make them feel good all around. I’m so blessed that I have such a supportive family and so many amazing friends that have helped me make it to where I am today! I can’t wait to see where the apprenticeship program will take me!
