Michael Helene has been in the hair care industry for two decades. She has worked behind the chair, behind the camera in film and television, and was the regional education director for Toni and Guy Tigi on the East Coast. Her dream of owning her own hair salon came about through her passion for the industry and making people look and feel great. While working in the salon and teaching for 10 years she honed her skill as a top of the line hair and makeup artist doing fashion shows, taking classes, teaching classes and even working on such films as Pirates of the Caribbean and Cold Mountain. She enjoys teaching her clients how to care for their hair themselves and promotes the idea of the importance of personalization to her staff. Michael is a master hair stylist, a precise hair shaper and a visionary long hair dresser, as well as a personal therapist to many of her clients.
“I believe that hair is the ultimate accessory. It’s the one thing you wear every day. It can be the deciding factor between a good day and a bad day in many of our lives. My job is to help you have many more good days.”
Michael Helene Says: Ok I can not write about myself but I felt I needed to have this section for balance purposes, lol!! I love hair though and I want to grow the industry and make everyone feel as beautiful inside as they feel outside…..hopefully after a visit with myself or my artists this is just drop dead gorgeous!! xoxo

** Starting 2018, Lauren will not be behind the chair on Tuesdays**
Lauren is a Northern Virginia native, wife, and mother of two black rescue kitties. In her spare time she enjoys rock climbing, mud runs, travelling, baking, drawing, painting, and long walks on the beach. In college she majored in fine arts before finding cosmetology, the perfect combination of meeting new people and exercising her artistic side. Lauren started her hair career at the Graham Webb academy.
For over a decade she has used her skills behind the chair, at photoshoots, fashion shows, community events, and teaching educational classes for other hairdressers. Although she loves doing all textures and types of hair, she is most widely known for her specialization in curly hair. Through her continued education she has acquired many certifications for cutting, styling and coloring. She has attended classes from companies including: Graham Webb, Aveda, Wella, Prive, Aquage, Ted Gibson, Eufora, J Beverly Hills, Hairbrained, DevaCurl and Kevin.Murphy. She has earned the titles of Deva Advanced Stylist, Curl Architect, and most recently Deva Certified Curl Specialist from the Devachan Salon in New York city.
Her newest professional venture, in addition to working behind the chair, is joining the Kevin.Murphy family. As a Gold Key educator, she can now be found on her days off in salons enriching the craft of others in the industry. Part of Lauren’s requirements as a member of the KM family are multiple trainings each year with international artists focusing on the most up to date hair techniques and looks straight from catwalks and magazines around the world.
Michael Helene Says: Lauren is an enigma!! She is the only artist I have hired and kept that came from other training. She is amazing! She is a hard worker, a fantastic artist and a great educator. Lauren is one of the best haircutters I have ever seen cut hair and she loves it to boot. Such a hard combo to find. You will be so pleased if you have her as your artist as you will come away with an experience like no other!!
